Introduction
Are you an experienced Educational Psychologist ready to take on a senior leadership role, or seeking your first promoted post? Join Lewisham’s warm, inclusive and creative team for a 12-month fixed-term opportunity, offering the professional connection of a supportive service, the chance to shape system-wide practice and a lasting impact across a diverse local community. We warmly welcome applications from EPs currently working in the private or voluntary sector and will provide a supportive transition, strong professional connections and valuable insight into contemporary local-authority practice.
You will provide supervision and line management, contribute to service development and lead agreed areas of work, while maintaining a balanced allocation of traded, statutory, commissioned and management activity. You will bring strong professional judgement, a commitment to public service and actively anti-racist practice, and a desire to support improvement across the service and wider local authority.
What’s the role?
This part-time Senior Educational Psychologist post will strengthen and support the senior leadership team while the Principal Educational Psychologist leads Lewisham’s Experts at Hand work. You will provide line management and professional supervision to a group of EPs, supporting high-quality practice and staff wellbeing, and work closely with the Principal EP, Deputy Principal EP and other Senior EPs to contribute to the effective operational leadership of the service.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
