Location: London, UK (1 day per week onsite at Triton Square) Contract Type: Contract / Consultancy Sector: Investment Banking | Electronic Trading | Foreign Exchange (FX)

Hays is partnering with a leading global investment banking organization undergoing a major transformation within its FX Electronic Trading (eFX) division. As part of a strategic multi-year modernization program, our client is completely redesigning its pricing, trading, hedging, risk, and booking platforms, replacing legacy vendor solutions with cutting-edge in-house Java-based systems.

We are looking for an experienced Senior EFX Developer to join a highly skilled international engineering team and play a key role in building the next generation of low-latency electronic trading platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on business-critical systems handling large volumes of real-time market data and trading activity, using modern technologies and best-in-class engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-performance, low-latency trading applications within the FX electronic trading ecosystem.
  • Build scalable and resilient components for pricing, trading, hedging, risk management, and trade processing.
  • Contribute to the strategic migration from third-party vendor platforms to proprietary Java-based solutions.
  • Optimize application performance, latency, throughput, and resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain connectivity with major electronic trading venues and liquidity providers such as Bloomberg, FxAll, and 360T.
  • Improve system observability, monitoring, instrumentation, and operational resilience.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Quantitative teams, and fellow engineers across multiple international locations.
  • Mentor junior developers and promote engineering excellence through best practices in coding, testing, and software design.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
