About us

We are a small engineering consultancy in Edinburgh, with a mix of electrical, controls & software engineers. We work on a variety of projects involving renewable energy devices and other green technology such as energy storage projects.

We design and build systems using industrial off-the-shelf equipment, including low voltage variable frequency drives and power converters, PLCs, communications and networking equipment and servers. Our systems integrate with a wide range of devices such as novel electric and hydraulic-electric hybrid power generators, small consumer wind turbines, and subsea equipment. We design reliable networks for deployments where failure means dispatching a repair ship rather than opening a cabinet, and run cloud servers for centralised control, data logging and visualisation.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced engineer who enjoys wearing many hats and working across varied technologies, and who thrives when given responsibility and autonomy. As part of a small team, you will work directly with clients and suppliers, manage your own tasks and priorities, and take on a mix of design, specification, and hands-on implementation. You will work on multiple projects at once; on some, you will own the entire project from initial client discussions to on-site commissioning; on others, you will join a project in progress and will be expected to become productive quickly.

As a Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer you will work to design, build and test electrical and control systems. This will include system design & architecture as well as detailed design of PLC systems and electrical cabinets, including sensor and actuator selection and integration. You must be comfortable working on low voltage electrical systems and have knowledge of the relevant electrical standards. You should be able to produce schematic drawings, BOMs, test plans and documentation to allow either in house manufacture or subcontract build of electrical panels and wiring harnesses. Design tasks may include system simulation using Simscape Electrical.

Iโ€™m in my final year doing Economics and I donโ€™t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer โ€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโ€™t need a masters. Letโ€™s look at the ones youโ€™d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
