Job Title: Senior Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer / Supervisor
UK-wide (flexible/remote for senior candidates) - Manchester would be preferred | Permanent
About Our Client:
Our client is a specialist technical and professional services provider to the UK gas industry, working across the national gas transmission and distribution networks, the sector regulator, and tier one delivery contractors. Established over 20 years ago and now part of a larger regulated-industries group, our client is expanding its specialist technical capability into the water and biomethane sectors.
The Role:
Our client's technical delivery lead is taking on a broader remit across surveys and inspection, and needs a senior engineer to pick up day-to-day electrical and E&I delivery work and act as a technical point of contact for clients. This is a generalist senior role rather than a narrow specialism — someone who has worked across a breadth of electrical/instrumentation problems, understands why things are done a certain way, and is comfortable being the technical face of the business in front of clients.

What you'll be doing:
- Leading electrical and instrumentation engineering input across live projects for gas and (increasingly) water/biomethane clients
- Acting as the technical point of contact for clients, understanding client needs, scoping work and managing expectations directly, without this being a line management role
- Applying and interpreting relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g. ATEX, DSEAR, hazardous area classification, IEC), you don't need to be the world authority, but you know where to look and how to interpret what you find
- Supporting programme and project delivery, including quality assurance/quality control of technical output
- Coordinating and overseeing contractor resource on projects, prior experience managing contractors is a strong plus
- Getting involved in some design review/design assurance work where it arises, though this isn't the core of the role

What We're Looking For:
- A senior electrical engineer (or senior E&I engineer, leaning electrical) with significant experience in a highly regulated environment — gas, utilities, chemical infrastructure or water are all relevant backgrounds
- Experience within the gas industry (transmission, distribution, or tier one contractors) is highly valued
- Confident, credible client-facing skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and expectations directly
- Project/programme delivery experience is preferred over a pure design background, though design experience is welcome
- Experience managing or coordinating contractors is a bonus
Package:
