Senior Electrical Building Services Design Engineer
I’m currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Building Services Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team in Bristol.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical building services engineer who is looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to lead projects, provide technical leadership, manage client relationships and mentor junior engineers. The role will involve working across a diverse range of projects, including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, retail, leisure, industrial and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and undertake electrical building services design across a range of projects
- Provide technical leadership and develop effective engineering solutions
- Liaise with clients, consultants and contractors
- Manage electrical design deliverables, programmes and project teams
- Produce and review calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Undertake feasibility studies, site surveys and cost estimates
- Coordinate electrical design with other engineering disciplines
- Support project delivery through the various RIBA work stages
- Identify and manage design risks in line with CDM requirements
- Support business development and bid preparation
- Lead, mentor and develop junior engineers
- Contribute to sustainable and low-carbon engineering solutions

Requirements
- HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline
- Strong experience in electrical building services design
- Experience with electrical supply and distribution systems
- Lighting design and electrical load assessment experience
- Knowledge of standby generation, UPS, earthing and bonding
- Good knowledge of the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
- Experience working on multidisciplinary construction or building projects
- Understanding of RIBA work stages and CDM
- Experience with software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux, Relux or Navisworks
- IET or CIBSE membership would be advantageous
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status, or working towards professional registration
- Strong communication, project management and leadership skills
- Full UK driving licence
