Senior Electrical Cable Engineer

Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Cable Engineer on a permanent staff basis to be based in Warrington. This role is supporting the SMR programme within the nuclear industry.

About the Role

As a Senior Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities span the entirety of the electrical system lifecycle:

  • Cabling & Datasets: Develop, maintain, and quality-check critical electrical datasets, including load schedules and cable schedules.
  • System Design & Calculations: Perform design calculations for electrical distribution networks, specifically focusing on cable sizing, protection coordination, discrimination studies, and earthing/lightning protection systems.
  • Layout & Integration: Work closely with the Layout and Installation Assemblies team to integrate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) modules, ensuring cables and installation assemblies support the factory-fabricated modular delivery strategy.
  • Verification & Validation (V&V): Formulate independent planning, review, and assessment of verification evidence for HV and LV power networks, transformers, switchgear, and cable routing systems to satisfy nuclear regulatory standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface seamlessly across Mechanical, Civil, Control & Instrumentation (C&I), Safety, and Supply Chain teams to resolve technical assumptions or design changes.
  • Technical Governance: Author technical reports for regulatory engagement, act as an "intelligent customer" when dealing with supplier deliverables, and mentor junior engineers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
