H-Power
H-Power is a UK-based, AIM-listed clean energy company developing hydrogen power systems.
Combining ammonia-to-hydrogen technology with hydrogen fuel cells, the business is developing practical alternatives to fossil-fuel-powered generators for construction, infrastructure and off-grid applications.
About the Opportunity
As H-Power continues to develop and commercialise its technology, we're looking for a Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to join the engineering team in Dunsfold.
This is a hands-on design role, working across hydrogen generation, fuel cell and integrated power systems, from initial requirements and electrical architecture through detailed design, build, testing and commissioning.
What You'll Be Doing
- Taking ownership of electrical design activities across new and existing products.
- Developing electrical architectures, single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams and detailed control-panel designs.
- Producing manufacturing documentation, including panel layouts, cable schedules, terminal schedules and component specifications.
- Selecting electrical equipment, protection devices, instrumentation and control-system hardware.
- Designing electrical systems for hazardous-area applications, including appropriate ATEX equipment selection.
- Working closely with mechanical, process, controls and test engineers throughout product development.
- Supporting panel build, system integration, FAT, testing, commissioning and fault-finding.
- Preparing design specifications, requirements and compliance documentation.
- Supporting CE/UKCA certification and relevant safety reviews, including HAZID/HAZOP, FMEA, SIL and LOPA.
- Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in engineers who enjoy being involved in the detail of the design, rather than solely managing projects or reviewing work produced by others.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- A degree or relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience designing electrical and control systems for industrial machinery, packaged equipment or process applications.
- Experience personally producing electrical schematics, control-panel layouts, wiring diagrams and associated manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of LV electrical distribution, protection, cable sizing and component selection.
- Working knowledge of BS7671 and EN 60204.
- Experience using electrical CAD software such as EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or SolidWorks Electrical.
- Experience selecting and configuring PLC hardware, ideally Siemens.
- Practical involvement in equipment build, testing, commissioning or troubleshooting.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience designing electrical equipment for ATEX/hazardous-area applications would be particularly valuable.
Exposure to functional safety, EN 61511, HAZOP/LOPA and CE/UKCA certification would also be beneficial.
You don't need to have worked in hydrogen or fuel cells previously. We're equally interested in engineers with transferable experience from industrial automation, machinery, energy, gas systems and process equipment.
