Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Electrical Design Engineer with a strong Building Services background to join a growing and dynamic engineering consultancy. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects across a variety of sectors, ensuring high-quality technical solutions and excellent client service.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of electrical building services projects from feasibility through to construction and handover.
- Produce detailed electrical designs for power distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarms, life safety systems, security systems, and data/communications infrastructure.
- Prepare technical calculations, specifications, drawings, reports, and design documentation.
- Attend meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with mechanical engineers and other disciplines to ensure fully integrated design solutions.
- Conduct site surveys, inspections, condition reports, and witness testing as required.
- Ensure designs comply with current UK Building Regulations, British Standards, CIBSE guidance, and industry best practice.
- Review and approve design work produced by junior engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
- Manage project programmes, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Support client relationship management and contribute to business development activities.

Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a Building Services Consultancy environment.
- Strong electrical design experience across commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial, or mixed-use developments.
- Thorough understanding of LV power distribution, lighting design, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, and building services coordination.
- Proficient in industry-standard software including AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, Dialux, Relux, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, CIBSE standards, and electrical design best practice.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
- Experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Desirable
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.
- Membership of CIBSE, IET, or an equivalent professional body.
- Experience delivering complex or large-scale projects.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and net-zero strategies.
- Experience using BIM and Revit in a collaborative design environment.
