Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Stockport
£45,000 - £55,000 (depending on experience)

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business designing material handling systems. This is an fantastic opportunity to join a UK leading manufacturer. They are a well established business with a global reputation. This is a varied role where you will take ownership of electrical design projects from concept through to commissioning, working closely with manufacturing, installation and engineering teams to deliver high quality solutions for customers. The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will have the opportunity to mentor junior engineers, contribute to new product development and play a key role in driving continuous improvement across the engineering department.

Responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer

  • Design electrical control systems for bespoke projects
  • Produce and maintain electrical schematics and technical documentation using CAD software
  • Select and specify electrical components, cabling and control equipment
  • Configure and support PLCs and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Provide technical support during equipment build, testing, commissioning and fault finding
  • Assist with prototype development, testing and design validation
  • Support and mentor junior engineers within the team
  • Work collaboratively with production, installation and project teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, product quality and efficiency
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical standards and company quality procedures

Requirements of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer

  • Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5 years' experience within an Electrical Design role
  • Experience designing electrical control panels
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs and variable frequency drives
  • Experience producing electrical schematics using Electrical CAD software
  • Ability to interpret and apply electrical standards and best practices
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments
  • Able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment
  • Experience within material handling or a similar engineering environment (desired)
