Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join their growing Building Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in the delivery of technically challenging projects across a range of sectors including commercial, industrial, life sciences, defence, infrastructure and the built environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical building services designs, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, and developing strong client relationships. You will have the opportunity to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the continued growth and technical excellence of the team.

This position would suit an ambitious Electrical Engineer who is passionate about innovative design, takes ownership of their work, and is committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for clients.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Design and specify electrical building services systems in line with current regulations, standards and project requirements.
- Produce and review technical deliverables including calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
- Undertake site surveys, inspections and construction-stage support activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to develop safe, efficient and buildable engineering solutions.
- Manage the electrical discipline on small to medium-sized projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget and quality standards.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and project teams.
- Review and check designs, calculations and technical documentation to ensure compliance and quality standards are met.
- Support project planning activities including fee proposals, tender submissions, scopes of work and change management processes.
- Provide technical guidance, leadership and mentoring to graduate, apprentice and junior engineers.
- Promote best practice, continuous improvement and compliance with quality management procedures.
- Maintain an understanding of CDM regulations and their application within project delivery.
Requirements
- Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with CIBSE, IET or working towards chartership.
- Proven experience delivering electrical building services projects within at least one relevant sector.
- Strong electrical design, technical detailing and specification-writing experience.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Demonstrable client-facing experience and the ability to build long-term stakeholder relationships.
- Experience contributing to bids, proposals and tender submissions.
- Working knowledge of BIM Level 2 delivery.
- Proficiency with key industry software including AutoCAD, Navisworks, DIALux, NBS and Amtech/Trimble.
- Due to the nature of some projects, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of UK security clearance where required.
