Job Title: Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

Location: Norwich (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary: £60,000 - £75,000 + Benefits

About the Company

We are a well-established and growing multidisciplinary consultancy based in Norwich, offering integrated expertise across Building Services (MEP), Civil Engineering, and Architecture. Our collaborative approach allows us to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions across a broad range of complex and large-scale projects.

Due to continued growth, we are looking to strengthen our Building Services team with an experienced Senior / Principal Electrical Design Engineer.

The Role

This is a key role within our MEP team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of electrical design delivery while supporting project leadership and mentoring junior team members.

You will be involved across the full project lifecycle, working closely with mechanical, civil, and architectural teams as part of a fully integrated design approach. The role offers a strong balance between technical design, client interaction, and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design of Building Services systems across a range of projects
  • Deliver high-quality technical solutions from concept through to detailed design
  • Take responsibility for project delivery, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget
  • Design systems including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and data/communications
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on integrated project delivery
  • Attend client meetings and contribute to developing strong working relationships
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and industry best practice
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement within the team

About You

  • Proven experience within a Building Services / MEP consultancy environment
  • Strong electrical design background across a range of sectors
  • Ability to lead design elements of projects and full project leadership at Principal level
  • Commercial awareness with understanding of project budgets and delivery
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers (particularly at Principal level)
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) preferred
