A leading international engineering and design consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its growing Building Services team. Working across a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable engineering solutions within sectors including commercial, defence, healthcare, education, transportation, and critical infrastructure.

Your new role

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the delivery of electrical Building services design from concept through to construction. Working within multidisciplinary teams, you will be responsible for developing technically robust solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards.

  • Producing and reviewing electrical design calculations and specifications.
  • Designing LV power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small power, fire alarms, and associated building systems.
  • Leading project deliverables across multiple sectors and project stages.
  • Managing client relationships and attending design and coordination meetings.
  • Collaborating closely with mechanical, structural, architectural, and specialist engineering disciplines.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and sustainability objectives.
  • Supporting bid preparation, fee proposals, and business development activities where required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards chartership) through IET, CIBSE, or equivalent.
  • Significant experience in the design of electrical building services systems.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, BS7671, and relevant industry standards.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software such as Amtech, Dialux, Relux, ETAP, or similar.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within collaborative teams.
