The Opportunity

We're supporting BAE Systems in the search for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their team in Samlesbury on a 12-month contract basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of complex aerospace products, producing physical product definitions that meet multidisciplinary system requirements while considering safety, manufacturability, cost, supportability, and overall performance throughout the product lifecycle.

Working within both a 3D model-based engineering environment and traditional 2D drawing frameworks, you'll utilise CATIA V5 to deliver innovative electrical design solutions as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce electrical design data in line with project requirements, standards, quality expectations, and programme schedules.
  • Design and integrate electrical equipment installations, harness routing, support structures, and separation requirements using the CATIA V5 Electrical 3D and 2D toolset.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders to support product development activities.
  • Ensure compliance with functional requirements, including safety and zonal analysis considerations.
  • Review and verify design data prior to formal independent checking processes.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities, proposing mitigation plans where appropriate.
  • Investigate and resolve design queries, supporting engineering changes and modifications.
  • Contribute to continuous professional development and knowledge sharing across the wider team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
