Senior Electrical Design Engineer
£100,000 - £140,000 + Competitive Equity
On-site | London
Build something that doesn't exist yet.
Most engineering jobs involve improving someone else's design.
This one doesn't.
We're working with a fast-growing engineering business that's developing technology capable of changing how synthetic fuels are produced at scale. Backed by significant investment and growing rapidly, they're looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to own the industrial AC power architecture behind their next generation of products.
If you're motivated by solving difficult engineering problems, taking ownership and seeing your work become reality, this is the kind of role that doesn't come along very often.
The role
You'll take ownership of the electrical architecture across complex, multi-megawatt industrial systems, working alongside a highly capable multidisciplinary engineering team that's building everything in-house.
This isn't a maintenance role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
It isn't a consultancy role.
It's an opportunity to influence the design, safety and scalability of technology from the ground up.
You'll be involved in:
- Owning the industrial AC power architecture for multi-megawatt systems.
- Designing power distribution, protection systems, panel layouts and cable sizing.
- Producing electrical schematics and supporting CE/UKCA certification.
- Leading functional safety activities including IEC 61508, HAZOPs and FMEAs.
- Working across power distribution, motors, drives, pumps, instrumentation and industrial control systems.
- Mentoring engineers while remaining hands-on technically.
About you
You'll probably have 5-15 years' experience designing industrial electrical systems and enjoy working where engineering decisions genuinely matter.
We're particularly interested in engineers who've built products or systems in fast-paced, innovative environments rather than spending their career working solely on large consultancy or EPC projects.
