Job Description
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will join our Horsham team to support our activities within the clean energy and hydrogen technologies sector.
You will play a key role in the design and development of electrical systems for fuel cell and electrolysis technologies, supporting the transition to a net-zero future. Working within a multidisciplinary Systems Engineering team, you will contribute to the development of innovative power generation and green hydrogen solutions, with responsibility for electrical architecture, power systems analysis, grid integration, and system commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical architectures for fuel cell and electrolysis systems
- Support the electrical design and optimisation of fuel cell stacks, stack arrays, and associated systems
- Deliver grid connection designs for power generation and demand applications across AC and DC distribution systems
- Perform electrical modelling, power analysis, and technical feasibility assessments
- Produce electrical drawings, wiring schematics, and supporting technical documentation
- Review and approve electrical designs, ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations
- Provide technical guidance on electrical components, distribution panels, switchgear, and electrical machines
- Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation activities for electrical systems
- Manage and review work delivered by electrical contractors and installation teams
- Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with electrical system designs
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative clean energy solutions

Qualifications
Required Skills
- Strong experience in electrical system design and power electronics
- Experience designing and delivering grid connections for power generation or large-scale energy projects
- Practical knowledge of AC and DC electrical distribution systems
- Experience with cable sizing, protection device selection, grounding/earthing design, and electrical infrastructure
- Knowledge of electrical machines, switchgear, and distribution panels
- Experience interfacing electrical systems with PLCs, embedded controllers, power converters, and protection systems
- Strong understanding of electrical standards and regulations, including IEEE, ANSI, IEC, and NFPA
- Experience reviewing electrical schematics, load calculations, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and electrical design packages
- Strong technical report writing and stakeholder communication skills
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Significant experience delivering electrical design solutions within complex engineering projects
- Experience supporting projects through design, installation, commissioning, and operational phases
- Strong practical and theoretical understanding of electrical power systems
Desirable Skills
- Experience within fuel cell, hydrogen, renewable energy, or power generation sectors
- Knowledge of power system modelling and analysis tools such as ETAP
- Experience using EPLAN, MATLAB, or similar engineering software
- Experience with MW-scale power systems and grid infrastructure
- Knowledge of industrial control systems and power conversion technologies
- Experience working on first-of-a-kind prototypes or R&D-focused engineering programmes
- Fluency in Korean, Mandarin, Chinese, or German
- Experience working with international partners and multicultural engineering teams
