Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with SC Clearance and a background in complex engineering projects?

We're working with a highly respected consultancy delivering critical infrastructure and defence projects across the UK and are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing Portsmouth team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on nationally important programmes, supporting the delivery of secure, high-profile facilities and infrastructure within the defence sector.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and technically robust electrical building services designs across a range of defence and secure environment projects.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leading electrical design packages from concept through to completion.
  • Producing detailed calculations, specifications, reports and technical drawings.
  • Managing project deliverables, budgets and programme requirements.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams and key stakeholders.
  • Undertaking site visits, surveys and design reviews.
  • Mentoring junior engineers and supporting technical development within the team.
  • Ensuring designs comply with industry regulations, security requirements and client specifications.

About You:

To be considered, you should possess:

  • Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering electrical building services design projects within a consultancy or contractor design environment.
  • Current SC Clearance (or eligibility to maintain existing clearance).
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations, British Standards and industry best practice.
  • Experience using industry-standard design software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience working on defence, military, MOD, secure government or high-security infrastructure projects.
  • Chartered status or working towards Chartered Engineer accreditation.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
