Senior Electrical Building Services Engineer

Preston | Hybrid Working

Are you a Senior Electrical Building Services Engineer looking for more than just another electrical design role? There is a clear career path towards Principal Engineer/Associate.

This is an opportunity to do more than simply produce calculations and drawings. You’ll lead electrical building services design, advise clients directly, mentor developing engineers and take ownership of projects from initial concept and detailed design through to completion. The role would suit an experienced Electrical Design Engineer / Building Services Engineer who enjoys technical problem-solving, client interaction and project responsibility, with genuine progression towards Principal Engineer and Associate level.

You’ll work within a close-knit Building Services Engineering consultancy delivering mechanical, electrical and public health (MEP / MEPH) design solutions across various industry spaces.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead electrical building services design across a range of projects.
  • Deliver electrical designs from concept and detailed design through to project completion.
  • Act as the technical electrical lead on assigned projects.
  • Undertake electrical calculations, design specifications, technical reports and drawings.
  • Design and coordinate building electrical systems including LV power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting and associated electrical services.
  • Apply relevant UK electrical regulations, design standards and industry guidance.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical building services, MEP, Revit and CAD teams and external consultants.
  • Provide technical advice to clients, architects, contractors and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Manage electrical design deliverables against programme, budget, quality and commercial requirements.
  • Mentor and support junior electrical engineers, graduates and apprentices.
  • Support fee proposals, tenders, bids and client presentations.
  • Contribute to technical standards, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
