Senior Electrical Engineer (High Voltage)

Location: Midlands or Southern England, with UK-wide travel

Salary: Competitive salary + vehicle + bonus

Employment: Permanent, full-time

Practical high-voltage plant experience is essential for this appointment.

An established UK renewable energy operator is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who can provide hands-on and technical support across its portfolio of operational assets.

This is not a design-only position. You will work directly with site teams and contractors to diagnose faults, support testing and repairs, investigate recurring defects and improve the reliability of HV and LV electrical systems.

Alongside this practical responsibility, you will lead electrical upgrades, coordinate engineering projects and provide technical guidance to a small team of Electrical Engineers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting fault-finding, testing, maintenance and repairs across high-voltage electrical systems
  • Investigating issues involving transformers, switchgear, cables, joints, terminations and protection relays
  • Working with operational teams and contractors to identify safe, practical engineering solutions
  • Reviewing maintenance reports and recurring defects to identify risks and reliability improvements
  • Leading root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions
  • Managing electrical upgrades and engineering projects from concept through to delivery
  • Reviewing specifications, designs and technical documentation
  • Coordinating project programmes, budgets, engineering resources and contractors
  • Helping sites identify replacements for obsolete electrical equipment
  • Ensuring work complies with applicable engineering standards and safety requirements
  • Mentoring Electrical Engineers and providing practical technical guidance
  • Preparing engineering reports and communicating findings to operational and management stakeholders
  • Travelling to operational sites throughout the UK, occasionally at short notice

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
