Standard Job Description
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
About The Role
Reporting to the Design Team Lead, the Senior Electrical Engineer is expected to take responsibility for the design, development, and support of mixed electrical / electronic solutions from concept to completion following a detailed phase-gate development process.
- Define processes, specifications, and procedures that support the design and manufacture of the Electrical hardware.
- Provide technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
- Facilitate the development of functional and physical design requirements to ensure complete integrated design architecture.
- Design and development of electrical circuitry (includes power electronics, harnesses, 28V high current systems).
- Analysis, test, and evaluation of Electrical circuits and components.
- Electrical circuit protection analysis.
- The ability to produce technical documentation to support all activities, from trade studies, requirements documentation, compliance evidence, and test documentation.
- Strong team player with good written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-managing, driven to get the results needed, great organisational skills.
- Flexibility in tasks undertaken.

Required Skills, Qualifications And Experience

- Formal Electrical qualification such as HNC/HND/BEng.
- Experience of Electrical Hardware Design & Electrical Product Development for Harsh Environments.
- Electrical analysis of derating, stress, and tolerance.
- Experience of software tools (e.g., Zuken, Harnware).
- EMC Awareness at product and circuit level.
- Awareness of Def-Stan/Mil Standards, Safety, and Quality processes.
- Ability to support and manage aspects of Assembly, Integration, and Test.
- Experience of working with lab test equipment, e.g., debug of Electrical circuits.
- Experience of Windchill or other Product Lifecycle Management tool.
- The role MUST be satisfied by someone DV cleared (or who can obtain DV) and work full time on site. This is a critical role to maintain the dales within the SP Business Area.
