Hays Building Services are working exclusively with a well-established and growing independent Building Services Consultancy in Bristol to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a close-knit, highly respected consultancy where your contribution will have a genuine impact. Unlike larger corporate environments, you'll have direct access to clients, influence over project delivery, and a clear voice within the business.
With a strong pipeline of work spanning commercial offices, residential developments, education facilities, healthcare projects, and mixed-use schemes, the business is looking for an ambitious engineer who enjoys technical design, client engagement, and mentoring junior staff.
Your new role
As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality building services designs while helping to shape the future growth of the business. Responsibilities include:
- Leading electrical building services design projects from concept through to completion.
- Producing detailed calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
- Coordinating designs with mechanical engineers, architects, and wider project teams.
- Managing client relationships and attending design meetings.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Contributing to business development and identifying opportunities for repeat work.

What you'll need to succeed
We're keen to hear from candidates with:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
- Proven experience within a Building Services Consultancy environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services design.
- Experience using software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and AutoCAD/Revit.
- Good knowledge of current Building Regulations and British Standards.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Chartered status or progress towards chartership would be advantageous.
