A leading engineering and infrastructure consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of major National Highways projects across the UK. Working within a highly regarded multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the development of electrical infrastructure solutions that support the growing demand for EV charging and associated power connections on strategic road networks.
Your new role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will report directly to the Principal Engineer and provide technical expertise across multiple National Highways projects. You will be responsible for developing and reviewing electrical connection requirements, liaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and supporting the delivery of critical electrical infrastructure schemes.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing electrical engineering input to DNO connection projects across multiple sites.
- Reviewing EV charging load demand information and translating requirements into electrical connection solutions.
- Developing and checking designs for 11/0.4kV transformer-coupled RMUs and LV feeder pillars.
- Producing and reviewing electrical engineering documentation, including:
- Load schedules
- Single line diagrams
- Equipment specifications and datasheets
- Cable schedules
- Associated design documentation
- Supporting DNO connection applications and capacity upgrades.
- Reviewing DNO offers and identifying technical constraints, actions and information requirements.
- Assessing and prioritising multiple site connections and associated project activities.
- Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, DNOs and other key stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering. Relevant apprenticeship routes will also be considered.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or demonstrable progress towards professional registration.
- Experience working on DNO connections, electrical infrastructure projects or power distribution schemes.
- Knowledge of LV and HV electrical distribution systems, including 11/0.4kV transformer arrangements, RMUs and LV feeder pillars.
- Experience undertaking electrical load assessments and converting load requirements into practical connection solutions.
- Familiarity with DNO connection applications and electrical connection studies.
- Strong understanding of relevant UK electrical standards, legislation and safety requirements.
- Experience managing multiple projects or sites simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to risk management, health and safety, and project delivery.
