Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Blyth, United Kingdom

Employment Type: Full-time

Working Arrangement: On-site

Sector: Data Centres / Major Construction Projects

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join the project team on a major data centre development in Blyth, UK. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with electrical subcontractors and the wider project team, providing technical leadership and supporting the design, coordination and installation of electrical systems in line with project specifications, quality standards and programme requirements. This is a site-based role, reporting to the MEP Lead and working across a large-scale, technically complex data centre project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, review and coordinate electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to electrical subcontractors throughout the project.
  • Coordinate and prioritise activities across the electrical engineering team.
  • Monitor electrical installation works to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Review subcontractor progress and ensure works remain aligned with the project programme.
  • Identify technical issues and implement effective troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with all site, project, quality and health & safety requirements.
  • Support the coordination of electrical works with other MEP and construction disciplines.
  • Maintain accurate document control, technical records and project logs.
  • Prepare and review system handover packs, test packs and commissioning documentation.
  • Attend project, technical and coordination meetings as required.
  • Support inspections, testing, commissioning and final handover activities.
  • Review site health and safety practices and ensure subcontractors operate safely.
  • Identify opportunities to improve working practices, safety and project delivery.
  • Ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained across electrical work areas.
  • Ensure all electrical works comply with relevant standards, regulations and project requirements.

Requirements

  • Relevant Electrical Engineering qualification, ideally a Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 10+ years' experience in a similar senior electrical engineering role.
  • Strong experience within an M&E / electrical contracting environment.
  • Previous data centre experience is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction, installation and site delivery.
  • Experience managing and coordinating electrical subcontractors.
  • Good understanding of electrical drawings, technical documentation and testing requirements.
  • Strong organisational, communication and time-management skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced, multidisciplinary construction environment.
