Senior Electrical Design Engineer

£50,000 - £65,000 + £6,000 car allowance

Our client is a leading specialist engineering and construction business delivering complex building services projects within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, healthcare and high-tech sectors. They design and deliver cutting-edge facilities including clean rooms, laboratories and advanced manufacturing environments across the UK.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary design team based in Rochdale.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Electrical Design Engineer looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role within a growing design team. You'll work on a diverse portfolio of technically challenging projects across multiple RIBA stages, collaborating closely with architectural, mechanical, HVAC and process engineering teams.

Projects are predominantly focused on building services design within highly regulated environments, offering exposure to specialist sectors rarely found in traditional consultancy roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design activities on allocated projects
  • Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications and design schedules
  • Design LV distribution systems using ElectricalOM and Trimble
  • Design lighting and emergency lighting installations using Relux and DIALux
  • Produce LV distribution, earthing and fire alarm schematics using AutoCAD
  • Develop coordinated electrical services layouts in Revit
  • Design systems include: small power, lighting and emergency lighting, fire alarm and VESDA systems, access control, CCTV and security systems
  • Ensure designs are fully coordinated, technically compliant and ready for delivery

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum Level 5 qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least 2 years' experience in electrical building services design
  • Strong working knowledge of: ElectricalOM, Trimble, AutoCAD, Revit, and Relux/DIALux
  • Good understanding of BS7671:2018+A4:2026
  • Experience with UPS systems, renewable technologies and solar PV
  • Awareness of ATEX environments would be advantageous
  • Full UK driving licence
