About BPA

At BPA, we are at the forefront of the hydrocarbon transport and storage industry, proudly owned 50/50 by BP and Shell – two of the world’s leading oil majors. With around 180 dedicated professionals across the UK, we play a vital role in “Keeping the UK Moving 24/7/365” by operating a range of onshore pipeline, terminal and storage assets, alongside delivering trusted engineering consultancy services worldwide.

Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our active participation in key industry bodies and adherence to internationally recognised standards.

What’s the Job About?

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across electrical engineering scopes within BPA’s pipeline, terminal, and storage infrastructure.

You will play a key role in defining, reviewing and delivering electrical solutions for both projects and operating assets, with a strong focus on brownfield environments, where operational constraints, safety, and system reliability are critical.

Working closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams, you will support delivery from early concept through to commissioning, ensuring electrical designs are safe, compliant, and practical to implement within live operating sites.

What You’ll Be Doing

Electrical Engineering & Technical Assurance

  • Define electrical scopes, problem statements, and technical inputs for project development and approvals
  • Lead or review key electrical deliverables such as SLDs, load assessments, protection studies, cable sizing, and earthing design
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, hazardous area requirements, and BPA procedures
  • Provide technical assurance and input into design reviews across the project lifecycle

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
