Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Egis Transport Solutions MEPHFC Design Team, with a focus on our Tunnels & Highways projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working on Tunnels & Highways projects with a strong technical knowledge of both High Voltage & Low Voltage electrical services design and coordination.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be required to work autonomously and be responsible for the delivery of electrical designs. We are looking for someone who’s dedicated, diligent, and driven, and will take this challenge head on, being an important part of a dynamic team with big ambitions.

This role may also include working on projects/bids internationally for Egis Transport Solutions or other Egis subsidiaries.

Your responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Working autonomously or as part of a team to develop electrical scopes, requirements, and designs
  • Produce HV, LV, and electrical building services designs, including design reports, technical specifications, single line diagrams, layouts, calculations, protection schemes, maximum demand assessments, load flow analysis, earthing & bonding
  • Develop design from feasibility up to As Built
  • Discharge safety responsibilities in relation to CDM Regulations, Health and Safety legislation
  • Carrying out design reviews and working to design assurance processes
  • Support and help develop less experienced members of the team
  • Nurture a get it right first-time culture within the team
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with clients
  • Produce and issue progress reports
  • Prepare & conduct presentations to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders etc.
  • Provide on-site design support during the construction and T&C phases and assess safety practice during the works

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Electrical Engineering qualification and a minimum of 10 years’ professional experience
  • Experience in Tunnels & Highways electrical design and coordination
  • A strong technical knowledge of High Voltage, Low Voltage, and electrical building services design and coordination
  • Good knowledge of British Standards and Regulations, and Tunnel & Highways Standards
  • Experience of working in an engineering production environment
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary design and coordination, and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stages
  • Experience of producing technical notes, reports, specifications, drawings, schedules and calculations
  • Ability to find solutions to engineering problems
  • Ability to deliver work to a programme and budget
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities
  • Capable of working as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Comfortable leading meetings and presenting to clients, stakeholders, colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers etc.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical systems from a technical, design, installation, buildability, and maintainability perspective
  • Proficient in engineering software tools including ETAP, Trimble/Amtech Pro Design, Dialux or Relux
  • Awareness of procurement activities and lead times
  • Being committed to professional development, staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies, integrating them into project designs as appropriate

Desirable:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Member of an engineering institute and has Engineering Council Professional Registration
  • Experience of working with 3D models in a BIM environment
  • Capable of managing design interfaces and integration processes
  • Experience of design assurance requirements & processes
  • Knowledge of design stages and requirements e.g. RIBA, BSRIA
  • Good understanding of relevant legislation such as CDM
  • Good knowledge of NEC contracts and project communications
  • Understanding of project scopes, requirements, works information, and commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of testing, commissioning and certification of electrical services would be beneficial
