Senior Electrical Estimator
Location: Birmingham Office
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Working Arrangement: Office-based
Sector: Commercial & Industrial Electrical Contracting
Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 per annum, dependent on experience
About the Role
Countrywide Electrical Services Ltd is an established electrical contractor delivering projects nationwide across the commercial and industrial sectors.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join our Birmingham-based team.
This is a key role within our estimating function and would suit an experienced electrical estimator who is confident taking ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission.
You will be responsible for producing competitive and commercially considered electrical tenders, working closely with the Bid Director and wider commercial and operational teams.
The successful candidate will have a strong electrical contracting background, excellent commercial awareness and proven experience estimating both pre-designed and design & build projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission.
- Review and analyse drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation to establish the full scope of works.
- Prepare detailed labour, material, plant and subcontract cost estimates.
- Identify tender risks, opportunities, design considerations and commercial issues at an early stage.
- Raise RFIs and Technical Queries to obtain clarification of tender requirements.
- Prepare and issue supplier and specialist subcontractor enquiries.
- Undertake detailed technical and commercial comparisons of quotations received.
- Identify and develop value-engineering opportunities while maintaining compliance with the project requirements.
- Assess buildability and determine where site visits are required to fully understand project constraints and risks.
- Prepare tender qualifications, exclusions, clarifications and offer letters.
- Present completed tenders to the Bid Director for review prior to submission.
- Support tender negotiations, clarifications and handover following successful project awards.
- Work collaboratively with the commercial, design and operational teams to ensure tender assumptions and project risks are clearly communicated.

Skills & Experience
We are looking for an experienced estimator with a strong background within the electrical contracting industry.
The successful candidate should have:
- Substantial experience as an Electrical Estimator or Senior Electrical Estimator.
- Proven experience preparing electrical tenders with values of up to approximately £2 million.
- Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical installations.
- Experience of both pre-designed and design & build projects.
- The ability to confidently interpret electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of electrical installation methods, labour requirements and material costs.
- Excellent commercial awareness with the ability to identify tender risks and opportunities.
- Experience using electrical estimating software and strong general IT skills.
- Relevant electrical qualifications and/or extensive electrical contracting experience.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to work independently and take responsibility for tenders while working collaboratively with the wider CES team.
