Senior Electromechanical Engineer – High-Power Systems

Contract: 6 months
Location: Remote, with travel to Belfast 2–3 times per month
Engagement: Contract

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Senior Electromechanical Engineer to support a technically advanced engineering programme focused on high-power electrical and charging systems. This is a hands-on engineering role requiring strong experience in the design and integration of high-power DC/AC power cabinets, switchgear, and associated electromechanical systems. The successful engineer will work closely with electrical, mechanical, controls, and systems engineering teams, taking responsibility for the physical design, packaging, and integration of complex high-power equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-power DC and AC electrical cabinets and assemblies.
  • Lead the electromechanical integration of switchgear, protection devices, busbars, power electronics, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Produce detailed 3D CAD designs and layouts for electrical cabinets, enclosures, and integrated systems.
  • Develop effective packaging solutions considering electrical, mechanical, and thermal requirements.
  • Work closely with electrical engineering teams to translate electrical schematics and system requirements into practical physical designs.
  • Ensure appropriate consideration of HV clearances, creepage, isolation, accessibility, and serviceability.
  • Support switchgear selection, packaging, and integration.
  • Develop and maintain drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other technical documentation.
  • Support design reviews and identify opportunities to improve system performance, reliability, manufacturability, and maintainability.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical and production issues.
  • Support prototype build, system integration, testing, and commissioning activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Desirable Experience

  • High-power EV charging or charging infrastructure.
  • Power electronics, converters, inverters, and DC distribution systems.
  • Busbar design and integration.
  • HV protection and isolation systems.
  • Thermal management of high-power electrical equipment.
  • Cable routing, harnessing, and high-current electrical connections.
  • Relevant electrical safety, switchgear, and enclosure standards.
