Senior Electronic Design Engineer
Hybrid | £60,000 to £68,000 + benefits
Fancy owning a product properly, from the first blank schematic through to something rolling off the line? This is that kind of role, not a tidy-up-someone-else's-board kind of role.
My client is a well-established manufacturer of rugged, high-reliability electronics for demanding markets, the sort of environments where kit has to keep working and failure is not an option. They sit within a larger international group, so there's stability behind them, but the engineering culture is hands-on and you'll have real ownership.
You'll be the design authority for your own hardware, seeing each product right across its life:

- Developing and proving out mixed-signal designs spanning low-level analogue, digital and power stages
- Capturing schematics, driving board layout, and writing up the design properly as you go
- Steering products through the environmental and electromagnetic testing that regulated markets demand
- Leading cost-down and manufacturability work, designing for build, test and long-term supply, and heading off component obsolescence
- Bringing on the junior engineers around you and acting as the technical voice in front of customers

What would make you a fit:
- An electronics degree, or the equivalent knowledge earned in industry
- A genuine history of designing involved electronic products where reliability really matters
- Comfort across the board: analogue, digital and power, plus embedded work on microcontroller or DSP platforms
- Time spent taking products through formal qualification and certification
- A commercial head to go with the technical one, and the ease to deal with customers and suppliers as readily as fellow engineers
