Electronics Engineer - Quantum Communication Systems

Toshiba Europe Limited has pioneered the development of quantum communication systems over the past decade, setting new standards for cryptography and data security. We are currently seeking an Electronics Engineer to develop the next generation of secure communication products at Toshiba’s Quantum Technology Centre in Cambridge, UK.

In this role, you will develop electronic circuitry that sits at the heart of our quantum products. You should be able to demonstrate past success in designing and delivering high-speed broadband analogue and digital circuitry for leading edge products.

You will join a dynamic organisation at the forefront of the quantum industry, with the opportunity to play a major role in the development of quantum networking technology as part of a highly driven and passionate team.

Responsibilities

  • Compiling requirements and technical specifications for new broadband analogue and digital circuits used in high-speed communication systems.
  • Conduct electronic system designs including the creation and reviewing of schematic designs, BOMs and multilayer PCB layouts with minimal supervision.
  • Liaising with PCB fabrication and assembly houses.
  • Independently perform board bring-up, debugging, soldering and integration testing in collaboration with embedded software engineers.
  • Development of appropriate test hardware and procedures for development and production.
  • Create high quality documentation (requirements capture, design specifications, tests plans, reports etc.)
  • Produce electronic system design portfolios, ensuring all documentation is maintained, updated and version controlled.
  • Support continuous improvement on existing products.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
