Hardware Design Engineer 📍 West of Scotland (Flexible Working) 💰 £60,000 - £70,000 + Benefits 🕒 Full-Time | Permanent
A well-established technology business in the West of Scotland is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working across a diverse range of technologies and products rather than being restricted to a single platform or product line. You'll be involved in the complete product lifecycle, from concept and architecture through to design, validation, manufacture, and ongoing support.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Electronic hardware design for new product development projects
- Ownership of products throughout the full development lifecycle
- Schematic capture and support of PCB layout activities
- Hardware bring-up, testing, debugging, and validation
- Supporting existing products and continuous product improvement
- Working closely with software, manufacturing, and test teams
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation
- Supporting compliance, EMC, and production activities

About You
We're looking for an engineer with experience in:
- Digital electronic design and development
- Schematic capture and PCB design principles
- Hardware debugging, testing, and fault finding
- Product development from concept through manufacture
- Managing multiple projects and priorities
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable Experience
- PCB layout tools such as OrCAD or DesignSpark
- FPGA development
- VHDL
- Intel/Altera FPGA devices
- Embedded microcontrollers
- Linux-based hardware platforms
- Analogue circuit design
- EMC and compliance testing
- PCB rework and prototype assembly
