Senior Electronics Design Engineer

As a Senior Electronics Design Engineer, you will join the R&D team responsible for developing the next generation of high-end HiFi systems for Naim Audio and premium speaker solutions for Focal. You will take ownership of designing and implementing advanced electronic circuits that contribute directly to the performance and sound quality of these products.

Working within a cross-functional R&D environment, you will collaborate closely with Embedded Software Engineers, Mechanical Designers, and Test Engineers across the full product lifecycle—from concept through to production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop digital electronics including microprocessors, DSP, FPGA, DAC/ADC, Ethernet, and DDR memory
  • Perform high-speed digital design and develop linear and switched-mode power supplies
  • Design and simulate analogue circuits, including amplifiers and audio filters
  • Prototype, test, and validate PCBs and electronic circuits, including bench testing
  • Ensure compliance with EMC and ESD requirements and conduct pre-compliance assessments
  • Participate in electronics design and architecture reviews, and evaluate design feasibility
  • Select components for long-term reliability, availability, and compliance with standards such as RoHS and REACH
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability and Serviceability (DFM & DFS) principles
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and assess their applicability
  • Create schematics and design PCB layouts, including analogue, power, and interconnection designs
  • Support system integration activities
  • Liaise with suppliers and external partners, including RF design consultants, ODM partners, PCB manufacturers, and test equipment providers
  • Define technical specifications and support custom component development and sourcing

Your Profile

  • Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
  • Approximately 8+ years of experience in designing complex electronic products in a commercial environment
  • Strong expertise in digital systems (e.g. digital audio, high-speed design, FPGA or RF technologies)
  • Solid experience in analogue electronics design
  • Hands-on lab experience, including debugging prototypes and using oscilloscopes and logic analysers
  • Experience with ECAD tools, preferably Altium
  • Knowledge of global safety standards and EMC/ESD compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with collaborative development tools such as Confluence and Jira
  • Knowledge of RF technologies (e.g. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) and EMC-sensitive applications is beneficial
  • Experience in the audio industry, including critical listening during design, is an asset
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate, share knowledge, and mentor junior engineers
  • Structured, rigorous, and organised approach, with openness to challenges
