Senior Electronics Design Engineer

A world leader in optical designing, testing, and manufacturing now has a need for a Senior Electronics Design Engineer. The ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set across both analogue and digital, covering hardware and firmware design aspects for embedded (ARM based) microprocessor systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a multidisciplinary team including optical and mechanical engineers developing new cutting-edge products for applications in Satellite communications, industrial sensing, and biomedical imaging, which will drive and deliver sustained revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electronic design engineering from concept to manufacture and test.
  • Lead the design of electronic sub-systems including requirements analysis and development of specifications.
  • Design of laser drivers, optical detection circuits, and digital control electronics.
  • Produce and maintain embedded firmware/software associated with digital control of opto-electronic sub-systems.
  • Reliability and parts stress analysis, obsolescence management as required.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to perform electronic design, analysis, and test.
  • Prepare presentation material and reports to a high standard for all phases of NPD/NPI.
  • Follow and maintain robust procedures to ensure right first-time design.
  • Support gate reviews and handover process from design to production.
  • Support manufacture and test of product on an occasional basis.
  • Present results clearly and concisely for both internal and external customers.
  • Deliver projects to plan and within budget constraints.

The Specialist Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor's degree level in Electrical and/or Electronics engineering.
  • Industrial experience in an electronics design & development function.
  • Good analogue/digital/mixed signal circuit design.
  • Experience in Firmware/Software development for ARM-based micro's.
  • Schematic capture and layout.
  • Experience with prototyping and laboratory test equipment.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with MISRA or similar coding standards is desirable.
  • RF design experience would be an advantage.
  • Adaptable in often rapidly changing design requirements and customer needs.
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving initiatives.
