The Position: Senior Electronics Design Engineer (PCB Design)
We are supporting the delivery of complex engineering solutions across life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors, and are currently looking to expand the technical team. We're therefore looking for an experienced Senior Electronics Design Engineer (PCB Design) to join our team to provide specialist electronic hardware and PCB design expertise in support of a major life sciences and pharmaceutical project.
Some of the main responsibilities of the Senior Electronics Design Engineer will include:
- Lead the design and development of PCB-based electronic systems from concept through to verified prototype.
- Develop electronic circuit designs, including component selection, power calculations, and schematic creation.
- Propose and evaluate PCB architecture and design concepts to meet project and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with PCB design and manufacturing partners to assess technical feasibility and optimise designs for manufacture.
- Manage external PCB design and manufacturing partners, ensuring prototype development, technical compliance and on-time delivery.
- Define and execute verification and testing activities to demonstrate compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Support product compliance activities, ensuring designs meet applicable regulations and standards, including CE, IEC and other relevant certifications.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to requirements traceability, verification and validation activities within a regulated environment.

Alongside a Commitment To Our Values Of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, And Inclusiveness, We Are Looking For Individuals Who Can Bring The Following
- Extensive experience in electronic circuit design and PCB-based product development.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead PCB development projects from concept generation through design verification and manufacture.
- Experience delivering PCB designs through prototype manufacture, testing, validation and final release.
- Strong knowledge of electronic component selection, circuit analysis and power calculations.
- Experience working directly with PCB manufacturers and external development partners, including design reviews and production oversight.
- Good understanding of PCB prototype development, assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and regulations such as IEC 61010, IEC 60204-1, IEC 61326-1, RED, CE and other product certification requirements.
- Experience working within regulated environments, ideally pharmaceutical, medical device, life sciences or other regulated industries.
- Experience of GAMP5, validation processes, or other regulated product development methodologies.
- Strong communication skills in English and the ability to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, suppliers and manufacturing partners.
- Reside locally to Portsmouth or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.

Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK.
