Job Opportunity: Senior Electronics Engineer

If you are a Senior Electronics Engineer professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you in Cumbernauld, Scotland. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and support of innovative electronic solutions for industry-leading gas analysis products. Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will help bring new technologies to market, support existing product portfolios, and provide technical guidance that enables both team and business success. You will play a key role in advancing products used across a wide range of industries, helping customers improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Develop innovative and reliable electronic design solutions that meet product and customer requirements.
  • Design, analyze, test, and validate analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development from concept through manufacturing release.
  • Partner with contract manufacturers and internal stakeholders to ensure successful product transfer to production.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including manufacturing build instructions, bills of materials, and test procedures.
  • Develop and execute design verification and validation activities to ensure product performance and compliance.
  • Plan and support EMC testing activities, including pre-compliance assessments, troubleshooting, and formal certification testing.
  • Work with regulatory and approvals organizations to demonstrate compliance and provide technical justification where required.
  • Support manufacturing teams in resolving technical issues and achieving product quality objectives.
  • Contribute to sustaining engineering activities and continuous improvement initiatives for existing products.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with colleagues, fostering technical growth and collaboration across the engineering team.
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities aligned with business priorities and your expertise.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing electronic systems and products in a professional engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design principles.
  • Experience with electronic schematic capture and PCB design tools.
  • Ability to perform board bring-up, troubleshooting, testing, and root cause analysis using appropriate engineering methods and tools.
  • Experience using simulation tools to support design and validation activities.
  • Understanding of signal integrity, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and product compliance considerations.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and the ability to work from the Cumbernauld site as required.

Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:

  • Degree, HND, apprenticeship, technical certification, or equivalent practical experience in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing products within industrial, regulated, or highly technical environments.
  • Knowledge of product compliance, approvals processes, and certification requirements.
  • Experience supporting products throughout the full lifecycle, from concept development through manufacturing and sustaining engineering.
  • Familiarity with gas analysis, instrumentation, process automation, or related technologies.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or providing technical guidance to engineering colleagues.
  • Experience working with external manufacturing partners and global project teams.
