Group/Division
SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.
Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Part of the KLA Engineering division, the Platform Hardware Group is a multi-disciplined team, providing automation solutions to enable the integration of KLA process systems into customer fabrication factories worldwide. As part of the team, you will primarily work on control and safety equipment used on our wafer handling systems.

The successful candidate will be a multi-skilled electronics engineer with a good level of design experience using PC/PLC based controls and systems. You would be supporting the other engineers in the group with equipment design/integration and expected to work to tight deadlines in a highly regulated industry. This is primarily an office-based role with some ‘hands on’ activities as required. You would show initiative and be motivated to learn new skills, very adaptable and keen to take advantage of the opportunities KLA can offer in progressing your personal development.
Main responsibilities:
- Electrical / electronic control and interface design
- Electrical assembly design
- Analogue and digital circuit design
- Embedded controller design
- PCB designing
- Designing critical safety circuits
- Technical report writing
- Producing engineering drawings, build and test guides
- MS Windows imaging of embedded controllers
Preferred skills and experience:
- Minimum Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience
- Proven experience working in an electrical/electronic design role
- Good understanding of electrical regulations
- Design of safety circuits would be advantageous
- AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent experience
You will be based in the Newport factory but may also involve a small amount of international travel to suppliers or customers. The role is office based however KLA offer flexibility working conditions in terms of start time. Work from home is available on one day a week basis as business requirements allow.
