Senior Electronics Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electronics Engineer based in Sedgefield to join an innovative engineering business developing advanced electronic, RF and microwave solutions for applications across telecommunications, defence, aerospace and space.

This Senior Electronics Engineer job offers the opportunity to work across the full product development lifecycle, from electronic design and system integration through to prototype development, testing, validation and manufacture. The role is ideal for an engineer with strong analogue and digital circuit design experience who enjoys working on technically challenging products within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Senior Electronics Engineer Job Responsibilities

  • Design and develop analogue, digital and mixed-signal electronic circuits at component level.
  • Develop signal conditioning circuits, filters, amplifiers and power supply modules.
  • Design digital systems incorporating microprocessors, ADCs, DACs and associated logic.
  • Produce schematics and define PCB requirements using tools such as Altium Designer.
  • Support electronic system integration, testing, verification and validation.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and communication issues and identify root causes.
  • Work closely with RF, software, firmware and manufacturing teams.
  • Support product development from initial concept through to prototype and volume manufacture.
  • Participate in design reviews and support technical documentation, reliability and continuous improvement activities.

Senior Electronics Engineer Job Requirements

  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent experience in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Electronics Engineer, Electronics Design Engineer, Hardware Engineer or similar.
  • Strong experience in analogue and digital circuit design at component level.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design, ideally using Altium Designer.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic testing and fault finding.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analysers or logic analysers.
  • Good understanding of EMC/EMI principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach.

Desirable Experience

  • RF or microwave electronics experience.
  • Telecommunications, defence, aerospace or space background.
  • Experience with PCIe, USB, Ethernet, CAN, I²C or SPI.
  • Knowledge of SMT and high-volume electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with thermal analysis, MTBF or reliability engineering.
