Principal Embedded Software Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Principal Embedded Software Engineer to provide technical leadership in the development of advanced embedded software solutions.

You will work across the software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to development, integration, testing, and delivery. You will also provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical aspects of embedded software projects.
  • Design, develop, and test embedded software for microcontrollers and embedded systems.
  • Contribute to software architecture, requirements, and technical decision-making.
  • Develop high-quality software using C and low-level programming techniques.
  • Debug complex software and hardware integration issues.
  • Lead code reviews and promote best engineering practices.
  • Support verification, validation, certification, and compliance activities.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

Essential Experience

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, Mathematics, or a related subject.
  • Strong professional experience in embedded software development.
  • Excellent C programming skills and knowledge of low-level software.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
  • Strong understanding of embedded systems and microcontrollers.
  • Experience with processor architectures such as ARM or equivalent.
  • Experience working within structured software development environments.
  • Knowledge of software requirements and configuration management.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with safety-critical or highly regulated software.
  • Knowledge of standards such as avionics or safety-critical standards IEC 61508, ISO 26262, DO-178C, or IEC 62304.
  • Embedded software security, multicore systems, or networking experience.
  • Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers.
  • Commercial and customer-focused engineering experience.
