Role: Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Weston super mare (on site 5 days a week)
Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop and optimise embedded systems for advanced sensing and signal processing platforms.
Highly proficient and experienced embedded software engineer with skills including kernel development for Yocto Linux based embedded platforms, FPGA development, hardware drivers, experience producing platforms for real-time high-speed digital signal processing (DSP) and software defined radio (SDR), to interface with front-end software applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain Yocto Linux-based embedded platforms
- Write and integrate low-level drivers and hardware interfaces.
- Collaborate with FPGA developers and application software teams.
- Optimise real-time data acquisition and processing pipelines.
- Support system integration and validation.
- Participate in customer review meetings when required
- Contribute towards generating estimates for bids and proposals
- Role may require some team leadership / management / mentoring of junior engineers.

Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in embedded software development for real-time bare metal environments (no operating system)
- Experience with Yocto Linux kernel, device trees, hardware schematics and driver development.
- Experience with Software Defined Radio and/or high-speed Digital Signal Processing platforms is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with VHDL / FPGA integration and real-time DSP.
- Experience with hardware bring-up and debugging tools.
- Excellent understanding of embedded system architecture.

We are a SME of around 30 staff and work with defence clients, but we are a R&D company who works on projects such as drones/ robots/ very technical projects that other companies don’t offer.
