Senior Embedded Linux Engineer – Contract
Remote | UK or Germany | Outside IR35
We are working with an established European professional audio technology company that is looking for a Senior Embedded Linux Engineer to join a specialist engineering team on a contract basis.
You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining customized Embedded Linux/Yocto platforms supporting professional audio products, working closely with ARM-based hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain customized Yocto/OpenEmbedded Linux images
- Configure and maintain the Linux kernel
- Integrate hardware drivers and applications
- Work hands-on with NXP i.MX8 platforms
- Support Linux-based audio/DSP applications
- Troubleshoot and debug embedded hardware/software issues
- Work independently across UK and German engineering teams

Key Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Embedded Linux
- Extensive Yocto/OpenEmbedded experience
- Hands-on Linux kernel configuration/development
- Experience with ARM-based embedded platforms
- NXP i.MX8 experience strongly preferred
- Strong C/C++ development experience
- Driver/hardware integration experience

Contract Details
- €80–€100 per hour
- Outside IR35
- Fully remote
- UK or Germany
- Flexible engagement: hourly/time & materials or milestone-based
- Access to prototype hardware will be required
This is a highly hands-on opportunity for an experienced Embedded Linux engineer who can take ownership of the platform and work with minimal supervision.
