We are looking for someone who can develop, guide and support a team of people within Employee Relations!

We, at Travis Perkins Plc have an exciting opportunity as a Senior Employee Relations Advisor within our engaged HR Shared Service Employee Relations team, based in Northampton.

The Role

The Senior Employee Relations Advisor would be there to build effective relationships with HR colleagues and business managers to ensure delivery of the best professional value-added ER service. Undertaking more experienced and senior responsibilities, you will be a main point of contact to develop, guide, coach the team!

This role will be working from our Northampton office 5 days a week during your induction/training period then will progress to a hybrid working pattern (2-3 days in the office per week)

Duties

  • Support the Manager and Head of Employee Relations with caseload and projects, deputising when appropriate
  • Support ER Advisors with advice and guidance to ensure consistent, impartial, commercial advice is given
  • Effective and efficient end-to-end management of high volume dispute resolution caseload (disciplinaries, appeals, grievances). In exceptional circumstances attend hearings for complex cases and provide face-to-face advice to management.
  • Contribute to legislative updates and the continuous improvement of Employee Relations policies, guidelines and template letters.
  • Plan resource needs and manage workload distribution, allocation of tasks and monitor service levels so that the team delivers an efficient & effective service
  • Coach and support the development of the ER team
  • Support the Head of HR and ER Manager with workload and ad-hoc requests. Deputise for the Manager, when required with daily team management, for example; team organisation (e.g. lunches, shifts etc), recruitment, workload distribution, allocation of tasks and monitoring service levels.

What We Are Looking For

  • A strong ER background with more than two years experience in a similar role within a large multi site and similar size organisation.
  • Experience with case managing difficult and complex grievance, appeal and long term sickness cases.
  • Excellent communication skills and can work under pressure.
  • Works collaboratively within the team and wider HR team.
  • Resilient and overcomes obstacles.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation.
  • Good understanding of data protection principles.
