Harrington Raine is a new UK regulatory consultancy providing HR and Employment Law support to employers.
We are looking for an experienced Employment Law Consultant to become one of the first members of our advisory team and act as a Primary Advisor to a portfolio of clients.
If you are already accustomed to advising employers directly, handling complex employee-relations matters and giving confident telephone advice without constant supervision, this role may suit you particularly well.
The role
You will own day-to-day advisory relationships with employer clients and support them through workplace issues from first conversation through to practical resolution.
You will be expected to understand what the employer wants to achieve, identify the real legal and commercial risk, recommend a sensible route and prepare the documentation required to implement that advice.
Typical matters will include:
- disciplinary and misconduct
- grievance
- sickness absence
- performance and capability
- dismissal
- redundancy and restructuring
- settlement discussions
- employment contracts and policies
- TUPE
- and wider Employment Law and employee-relations issues
You will deal directly with business owners, Managing Directors, HR professionals and other senior client contacts. You will not simply provide generic advice from a script. We expect our advisers to exercise judgement, take ownership and recommend a course of action.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What we are looking for
You do not need to be a solicitor. We are interested in experienced Employment Law professionals who can demonstrate that they are capable of independently advising employers and managing client relationships.
Suitable backgrounds could include Employment Law consultancy, employer advisory services, Employee Relations, Chartered Legal Executive work, specialist HR consultancy or another employer-facing Employment Law environment.
You should be able to:
- advise employers confidently with minimal supervision
- handle difficult client conversations by telephone
- explain Employment Law in clear, practical language
- make commercial recommendations rather than simply list options
- draft strong correspondence and Employment Law documentation
- prioritise several live matters effectively
- take personal ownership of client outcomes
- and identify matters requiring escalation
Strong TUPE experience would be particularly valuable. Acas Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal experience are desirable but not essential. Formal legal qualification is welcome but not required.
