Senior Employment Lawyer | London Borough of Redbridge | £63,690 - £66,078
A newly created Senior Employment Lawyer position has opened up at the London Borough of Redbridge, offering an experienced employment lawyer the opportunity to take on a broad senior role within a changing and developing legal service.
This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone looking for greater autonomy, a broader remit and the chance to help shape a role from the outset.
The Role
Reporting to the Principal Lawyer, you'll act as a senior specialist across the council's employment law work, advising HR and departmental managers and handling a varied caseload covering both contentious and non-contentious matters. Your work will include:
- Employment Tribunal litigation and complex employment disputes
- Advisory work on contracts, HR policies and organisational change
- Advice on pay and employment-related matters
- LGPS pensions
- Advocacy on interim applications and shorter hearings
- Supporting junior lawyers and trainees through training and knowledge sharing

What Are They Looking For?
You'll need to be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister with solid experience across both contentious and non-contentious employment law, including the ability to manage complex or higher-risk matters. Public sector experience would be useful, but isn't essential.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 36 hours per week, with a salary of £63,690 - £66,078. If you're an experienced employment lawyer looking for a role with more autonomy, responsibility and scope to shape your own work, this could be worth exploring.
