Senior Employment Lawyer | Pathfinder Legal Services
£52,415 - £60,030 DOE | Hybrid | Office attendance once a month
A genuinely interesting opportunity for an experienced employment solicitor looking for complex work, sophisticated clients and considerably more flexibility than you might expect from a public sector role.
Pathfinder Legal Services is looking to appoint a Senior Employment Lawyer to join its growing employment team.
The role offers a varied caseload covering both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. You’ll advise a sophisticated client base, predominantly large public sector and not-for-profit organisations with established HR functions. That means the work is typically substantive and complex, rather than being dominated by routine HR queries.
The Role
- Managing and advising on Employment Tribunal proceedings
- Providing advice on complex employment matters
- Handling both contentious and non-contentious work
- Building trusted, long-term client relationships
- Supporting a broad portfolio of public sector organisations
- Advising sophisticated clients and working closely with experienced HR teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
