Principal Energy Consultant | Hybrid Working | Manchester Area, UK | Permanent | Energy & Sustainability Consultancy

Are you an experienced energy professional looking to make a tangible impact on the UK's net zero journey?

We're working with a leading independent energy and sustainability consultancy that partners with companies across the public and private sectors to help them reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions, improve efficiency, and meet increasingly complex regulatory requirements. Through a combination of technical expertise, data-driven insights, and practical sustainability solutions, they support clients in delivering meaningful environmental and commercial outcomes.

Due to continued growth, they're looking to appoint a Principal Energy Consultant to join their expanding Energy Services team.

The Role:

This is a highly visible, client-facing position focused on delivering ESOS assessments, carbon reporting, and wider sustainability advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. You'll act as a trusted advisor, helping businesses understand their energy usage, compliance obligations, and opportunities for carbon reduction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver ESOS assessments across multiple sectors
  • Conduct energy audits covering buildings, transport, and industrial processes
  • Identify energy-saving opportunities and provide practical, costed recommendations
  • Prepare SECR disclosures and carbon reporting outputs
  • Calculate Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using recognised GHG Protocol methodologies
  • Support the development of net zero strategies and carbon reduction plans
  • Build strong relationships and become a trusted advisor to clients
  • Mentor junior consultants and provide technical guidance
  • Support knowledge sharing and best practice across the team
  • Stay up to date with evolving energy and sustainability legislation

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience delivering ESOS assessments
  • Strong understanding of SECR and carbon reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of GHG Protocol methodologies
  • Excellent written, analytical, and communication skills
  • Strong Excel and data analysis capabilities
  • Willingness to travel for site-based assessments
