Role Overview
We are seeking experienced Energy Trading Consultants to join BBGC and support our growing portfolio of energy and commodity trading transformation programmes.
The role requires deep, industry-specific knowledge of energy trading markets and products, combined with strong business analysis and ETRM/CTRM delivery experience.
This is not a generic Business Analyst role. Successful candidates will have genuine subject matter expertise within energy trading and be able to work credibly with traders and senior business stakeholders, understand complex products and trading processes, and translate these into effective business and technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with front office, risk, operations, finance and technology stakeholders across energy trading programmes
- Lead workshops to understand business requirements, challenge existing approaches and help define future-state solutions
- Analyse and document front-to-back trading processes and product requirements
- Provide subject matter expertise on energy markets, trading products and associated business processes
- Translate complex trading requirements into functional specifications and technology requirements
- Support the design and implementation of ETRM/CTRM solutions, including trade capture, valuation, risk, operations and settlement
- Work closely with ETRM/CTRM vendors and technology teams to assess solution options and identify potential functional or technical constraints
- Produce high-quality business requirements, functional designs, process maps and supporting documentation
- Provide leadership across stakeholder groups to drive decisions and achieve clear, practical solutions

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
