About the role
We’re excited to be recruiting a Senior Engagement Manager to help grow love and support for WWF-UK’s mission through engaging experiences, programmes and partnerships. Working closely with the Head of Engagement, you’ll lead a portfolio of activity with a particular focus on families and older adults, turning strategy and audience insight into practical, high-quality engagement.
You’ll work across live, digital, cultural and partnership-led activity, building relationships with organisations, brands and platforms that already reach the audiences we want to connect with. A key part of the role will be shaping engagement journeys that help people move from awareness and participation into deeper action and longer-term support. You’ll work closely with colleagues across digital, supporter journeys, fundraising, partnerships and communications to make those pathways clear and effective.
You’ll also identify opportunities to grow support and income through engagement activity, while leading complex projects, budgets, suppliers and evaluation.
This is a senior, collaborative role that will bring together colleagues from across WWF-UK, lead matrix groups where needed, mentor others and help strengthen the quality and consistency of our engagement work.
We’re looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with creative judgement and strong delivery skills. You’ll be confident leading complex work, building strong relationships and turning ambitious ideas into engaging experiences that help more people connect with nature and WWF-UK.
Skills and experience
You’ll bring the skills and experience needed to succeed in this role, including:
Essential
- Significant experience designing and delivering public engagement programmes, campaigns or experiences for defined audiences
- Strong understanding of audience behaviour and motivation, with the ability to turn insight into engaging experiences and clear next steps
- Experience creating audience journeys that move people from awareness or participation into deeper action or support
- Strong programme and project leadership skills, including managing budgets, suppliers, risks and multiple workstreams
- Experience leading complex work across different teams, disciplines or organisations
- Strong relationship-building and influencing skills, with confidence working with senior stakeholders and external partners
- Experience working with fundraising, partnerships, commercial or supporter engagement teams to identify opportunities to grow support or income
- Experience mentoring, managing or coordinating colleagues, agencies, volunteers or matrix teams
- Good judgement and confidence making decisions while recognising when strategic, financial, reputational or safeguarding issues need escalation
- Experience using data, feedback and evaluation to improve engagement activity
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive engagement practice

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
