Senior Atlassian Engineer

Nottingham

Hybrid – 1–2 days per week onsite

Up to £460 per day via umbrella


We are looking for a Senior Atlassian Engineer to join an established Jira team and play a key role in developing and improving the Atlassian platform.

This is a hands-on role focused on Jira and Confluence, where you will work closely with teams and stakeholders to understand their needs and turn them into practical, scalable solutions. You will help improve workflows, automation, reporting, integrations and overall platform capability, with a strong focus on reducing manual processes, improving data quality and giving teams better visibility of delivery, dependencies and risks.

The role would suit someone who is technically strong, enjoys solving problems and is confident challenging requirements and suggesting better ways of working. You will also have the opportunity to explore and implement Atlassian AI capabilities where they can provide genuine value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and configure Jira Cloud across a complex environment
  • Design and implement Jira workflows and processes
  • Build and maintain Jira Automation solutions
  • Use ScriptRunner to extend and enhance Jira functionality
  • Develop and manage integrations using Atlassian REST APIs
  • Carry out bulk updates and data management through APIs and automation
  • Administer and integrate Confluence
  • Develop dashboards, reports and advanced Jira configurations
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce manual effort
  • Assess and implement relevant Atlassian AI capabilities
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide effective solutions
  • Challenge requirements where appropriate and recommend alternative approaches
  • Troubleshoot issues and act as a technical problem solver
  • Bring fresh ideas and continuously look for ways to improve the Atlassian platform

Key Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with Jira Cloud administration and configuration – essential
  • Experience designing and implementing Jira workflows
  • Strong Jira Automation experience
  • Experience with ScriptRunner
  • Good knowledge of Atlassian REST APIs
  • Experience with bulk updates, integrations and API-based automation
  • Confluence administration and integration experience
  • Experience with Jira reporting, dashboards and advanced configuration
  • Experience assessing or implementing Atlassian AI capabilities
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
  • Ability to challenge requirements constructively and suggest improvements
  • A proactive approach with the ability to bring fresh ideas and identify opportunities for improvement
