Senior Hardware Engineer
Location: Berkshire
Salary: £50,000–£65,000 depending on experience
Working pattern: Full-time, predominantly on-site
Security: Candidates must be eligible for UK SC clearance
Venn Group is working exclusively with a specialist UK engineering organisation operating within the aerospace and defence sector to recruit a Senior Hardware Engineer.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering position with no formal line-management responsibility.
You will take ownership of projects from an initial brief through concept, design and prototyping to build, testing and final documentation.
Projects will cover a broad range of physical systems and equipment, including uncrewed platforms, payload integration, launch and support equipment, power and charging systems, test equipment and production tooling.

Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through to operational hardware
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies and produce manufacture-ready CAD drawings
- Integrate power systems, wiring, harnesses, avionics and payloads
- Build and develop prototypes, including hands-on fault finding and hardware modification
- Plan and conduct bench, environmental and integration testing
- Work across mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering disciplines
- Produce clear engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Support hardware through manufacture, assembly, integration and deployment
- Identify practical solutions to engineering challenges throughout the development lifecycle
Experience
We are interested in speaking with experienced engineers from aerospace, defence, UAV/UAS, robotics, autonomous systems or other complex product-development environments.

You are likely to have experience across several of the following:
- Mechanical or electromechanical design
- 3D CAD and engineering drawings
- Prototype development and testing
- Hardware integration
- Wiring, harnessing and electrical systems
- Avionics or payload integration
- Design for manufacture and assembly
- Test equipment and engineering tooling
- Taking products from initial concept through to working hardware
You do not need to be a specialist in every discipline. The key requirement is a strong hands-on engineering background and the ability to take ownership of complex hardware projects from concept through to delivery.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain UK Security Check (SC) clearance.
