The Role
As a Senior API Engineer, you will translate strategic direction and business requirements into robust, secure and reusable API solutions. You will design, build and support enterprise-grade integrations using Azure and modern.NET technologies, delivering production-ready outcomes with minimal day-to-day oversight. The role offers the opportunity to influence API engineering standards, cloud integration patterns and modern software delivery across a complex digital environment.

Your responsibilities
- Design, build and support enterprise-grade REST APIs and reusable integration services.
- Own API solutions from requirements and technical design through implementation, testing, release and production support.
- Configure and manage Azure API Management policies for security, routing, transformations and API lifecycle management.
- Develop services using C#/.NET, Entity Framework and Azure Functions, applying appropriate serverless and integration patterns.
- Implement secure API access using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT and modern API security practices.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, Git-based delivery workflows and Infrastructure as Code, preferably using Terraform.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers and stakeholders to translate strategic direction into robust technical outcomes.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and strengthen the resilience and operational readiness of production services.
Your Profile
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Relevant experience in software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in C# and .NET on Azure.
- Strong experience designing, building and supporting enterprise-grade REST APIs.
- Hands-on experience with Azure API Management, including policies, security, routing, transformations and API lifecycle management.
- Strong experience with Entity Framework and Azure Functions in serverless solution delivery.
- Practical knowledge of OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT and modern API security patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, automated testing and Infrastructure as Code, with Terraform preferred.
- Ability to take strategic direction, translate requirements into robust technical solutions and deliver with minimal oversight.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Experience integrating third-party platforms, SaaS solutions and enterprise back-end systems.
- Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging patterns and asynchronous integrations.
- Experience with operational data stores, canonical data models and entity-based API frameworks.
- Experience exposing business capabilities through reusable and consistent API contracts.
- Experience with relational database design and T-SQL.
- Experience with gRPC and service-to-service integration patterns.
- Exposure to financial services or another regulated environment.
- Experience supporting production services, including monitoring, troubleshooting and operational resilience.
