Senior Highways Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Highways Engineer to join our Basingstoke team based in Basingstoke within the highways sector. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Location: Basingstoke

Hours: 40 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…

  • A university degree holder (BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng) in Civil Engineering, Highways Engineering, or Transportation
  • Chartered (CEng)/Incorporated (IEng) professional or working towards becoming chartered or incorporated engineer with ICE, CIHT or IHE
  • Holding a Full driving licence
  • A member of a professional institution
  • Holder of CSCS Card, SMSTS or equivalent

What will you be responsible for?

As a Senior Highways Engineer, you'll be working within the Basingstoke team, supporting them in delivering highway design projects to the highest standards. This is an excellent opportunity to join our highways design team where you'll be responsible for the development and preparation of concept, preliminary and detailed design of a range of highway and infrastructure projects. You'll play a key role in supporting the Team Leader in managing and supervising team members, whilst contributing to their professional development. This position offers the chance to work collaboratively across disciplines, delivering innovative solutions for highway maintenance and improvement schemes to current standards.

Your Day To Day Will Include

  • Undertaking feasibility, preliminary and detailed design of highway maintenance and improvement schemes to DMRB and local authority standards using AutoCAD
  • Working collaboratively with other design disciplines in Common Data Environments
  • Providing design support to the highways design team and overseeing preparation of technical drawings, specifications and design calculations
  • Preparing fee estimates, design programmes, tender and contract documents
  • Maintaining good relations with clients and other authorities, attending meetings as necessary
